Dhnush to be honoured in germany

Dhanush starrer, 3 will be featured at the ninth Indian film festival which begins on July 18th at Stuttgart. Gemini film circuit has bought the overseas rights of the Suriya starrer, Maatraan. If the reports are to be believed the rights have been sold for a massive sum of Rs 12 crores. This is the biggest deal in recent times. The audio rights of the film have already been bought by Sony Music and they are looking to release the album on July 16^th.The film is expected to hit the screen on August 15^th, the Independence Day. Thuppakki starring Vijay is also expected to release on the same day.

ban on vijay's thuppakki

The court has passed an interim ban on the makers of Thuppakki from releasing their film until July 16th. The order was passed after a petition was filed by Ravi Devan, the director of another upcoming film Kalla Thuppakki. Ravi had registered the title in 2009, even before AR Murugadoss did. In his petition, Ravi said that there are possibilities of audience getting confused with the two films, for both have similar titles.Though the court hasn’t made a judgment on the case, they have ordered S Thanu, the producer of Thuppakki, to come out with a clarification from their side. Till then, Thuppakki cannot be used as a title for their film.

The makers of Vijay’s Thuppakki recently disclosed that they are looking to release their film on August 15^th. Now we hear that, KV Anand is also looking to release Maatraan in August.The same scenario arose last year when Suriya’s 7aam Arivu and Vijay’s Velayudham released on the same day. In the end, 7aam Arivu scored more at the box office, when compared to the Vijay starrer.Amidst this there are also chances of Kamal’s much awaited Vishwaroopam releasing around the same time. kochadaiyaan not on diwali

Rajini's film Kochadaiyaan will definitely not be hitting the screen this Diwali it appears. The reason for this is twofold. First of all, the makers want to make sure that Rajini's comeback film after nearly two years is absolutely perfect since the expectations will be higher than ever before after Enthiran.Secondly, Shah Rukh Khan's film with Katrina Kaif under Yash Chopra's banner will be releasing for this Diwali about which Yash Chopra made an announcement long ago. Rajini and SRK are good buddies and Rajini even gave a guest appearance for Ra - One so they have an unspoken gentleman's agreement not to compete with each other at the box office. Hence Kochadaiyaan's release date has been postponed. But his Tamil fans are still hoping that perhaps the Tamil version at least will be released for Diwali.

title change for billa 2?

The latest reports doing the rounds about Billa 2 even as it is all set for a July 13th release is that the film has undergone a title change. Apparently since it is a prequel and probably the first in India, it will not be called Billa 2 but David Billa in Tamil and The Beginning in the Telugu version. However when we contacted the production house, they said that no such change had been made and the film will be released as Billa 2 in Tamil. At this point the fans will not be concerned about what the film is called just as long as it releases on time. In an interesting coincidence, filming for Billa 2 began on July 14, 2011 and almost exactly a year later, the film is slated to release.

The shooting of Ameer’s Aadhi Baghavan is not over yet. The team is in Bhojpur district for a 15 day schedule. It’s known that Jayam Ravi is playing a double role in the film and Ameer is now directing a fight sequence between the two Jayam Ravis. Ajith’s Billa 2 is likely to be released on 13^th July and Chakri in an interview opened up about how he feels. “I’m very excited and I hope the audience loves the film,” said Chakri. He also said that this film is probably the first prequel in the country. “The expectations were sky high as the first part of Billa was a super hit. Imagining how David Billa would have been before becoming a Don was also very difficult.”The film will be released with an ‘A’ certificate, but the satellite rights might go for a ‘U/A’.

high court gives directive to 3 producers

In a landmark case, the producers of Dhanush - Shruti Haasan starrer 3 took action against websites that were providing links to pirated content from their film. Following a court ruling on March 29th, many websites with video sharing options were blocked for allowing public access to pirated content.On Friday, the Madras High Court issued a directive to the producers of 3 telling them that an entire website need not be shut down and only the objectionable content has to be blocked. The court has asked the makers to provide a list containing links of the pirated versions and specific URLs to ISPs (Internet Service Providers) so that they may be blocked by the websites.

Rajini's Kochadaiyaan is practically the most awaited film in the history of cinema especially after the health scare he suffered last year. It has been officially announced that the film has had the highest box office collection on the first day, than any other Karthi starrers. Popularly known as 'Mellisai Mannar', MSV captured the listeners of South India and earned high profile from Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu cinema. Though a Keralite, MSV achieved immense fame through Tamil film industry. Besides singing, he has showed remarkable talents through his acting skills and has made his appearance in many movies and shows. He has won many awards and titles for his vast contribution to South Indian music. Among other accolades and awards, he was conferred with Doctorate by Sathyabama University in 2006 and is also called 'University Of Music'. It is claimed that MSV is the only Music Director to have sung individually over 500 songs in all languages and who to have worked for other well known music directors like V. Kumar, Shankar Ganesh, Illayaraja, A.R. Rahman, Gangai Amaran and Deva.

Interestingly this music icon shares his birthday with his colleague and the legendary Tamil poet and lyricist Late Kannadasan. Both these had ruled together over the Tamil music world and had composed several songs which became huge success.

Kannadasan brought a note able change in the Tamil literature and film scenario. Also popularly called Kaviarasu Kannadasan was a very well-acclaimed personality during his days because of his use of day-to-day philosophy in his works. A winner of Sahitya Akademi, Kannadasan contributed around 5000 lyrics besides 6000 poems and 232 books including novels, epics, plays and essays. He had won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics, in 1969 for the film 'Kuzhanthaikkaga'. He is greatly remembered by not only filmzens but also by common mass for he delivered verses that really touched the people from all walks of life.

MSV and Kannadasan shared a good rapport and had great mutual understanding. Both regarded each other as very close friends. Kannadasan was a person with ready wit and had keen observational powers. Once Kannadasan had said referring to MSV, "The best way to kill MSV is to give him poison while he is composing music. He will just drink it." MSV similarly had high regard for the latter. Kannadasan and Vaali were very close to this great man. He compared them both as his own two eyes.

This musical pair, MSV and Kannadasan, gave music lovers several melodious treats; of which two of the memorable songs are - "Satti Suttathada" from 'Aalaiya Mani' and "Vantha Naal Muthal" from 'Pava Mannipu'.

Both M. S. Vishwanathan and Kannadasan have really created an impact through their vast knowledge and talents and have given their best for the people through their respective fields.

The release date of another big film of this year has been announced. Mysskin’s Mugamoodi starring Jiiva will hit the screens on August 31^st. It can be recollected that Ajith’s Mankatha was released on the same date last year.Mugamoodi is in the verge of getting wrapped up. It is speculated that the shoot will be over by the end of this month. Being a superhero film, most of the scenes were canned during the nights. There were also reports saying the release might be during the later part of July. Police had to interfere and get the situation under control, when Ajith’s fans in Bangalore crowded the shooting spot of Vishnuvardhan's untitled project, to get a look at the actor. The Police Inspector of Halasuru station said that the fans created commotion by climbing on the walls and vehicles around the area to see Ajith.The sources said that the sets weren’t damaged but few vehicles were. Selvaraghavan’s ambitious project Irandam Ulagam starring Arya and Anushka is in the making. The pretty actress joined the team in Georgia recently. The buzz is that Anushka will be playing a dual role in the film. She plays a house wife and a Tribal girl in the film. She is also getting trained in Martial arts, for her role as a tribal girl.The film also stars Y Gee Mahendran, Raadhika Sarath Kumar and Siva Karthikeyan in supporting roles. Harris is composing music for the film and Ramji is helming the camera.

Karthi's Saguni released yesterday and celebs like Prasanna and Premgi Amaren have already given their verdict. Prasanna remarked that he liked the film and found Karthi and Santhanam's performances to be absolutely rocking. He also liked the message of the film that one man can truly make a difference.Premgi praised Karthi and Santhanam for their super performances and said that he has become a fan of the heroine Praneetha who according to him is amazing. The actor added that Saguni is not his kind of film as he is partial to his brother Venkat Prabhu's films like Chennai 600028, Saroja, Goa and Mankatha. Shaithan fame Bejoy Nambiar’s upcoming bilingual David starring Vikram seems to have a very interesting story. The film has two Davids, one a musician and other a fisherman. Both of them belong to a different time and have difficult decisions to take. These decisions can either take them to great heights or push them down to the worst hell. Do they overcome these life altering situations, form the story.The film features Vikram, Jiiva, Nassar, Tabu, Lara Dutta, Rohini Hattangadi and Isha Sharvani. Rathnavelu is handling the camera for the fisherman's part of David and Sejal Shah for the musician's part of David. The film’s music will be diverse, with Anirudh, Prashant Pillai, Remo and Modern Mafia working on it. National Award recipient Sreekar Prasad is editing the film.
